Conquering Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively introduces challenging bosses, enhancing player skill development. While not excessively long, the game features a satisfying number of boss encounters. Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, presents a significant challenge, demanding mastery of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.
Defeating Gyalva: A Strategic Approach
- Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Health (Normal): 1200
Following Guilen's defeat, players navigate the Zone of Lava to confront Gyalva. The key to victory lies in strategic positioning at either bridge end. Limited movement options and the volatile bridge, constantly disrupted by Gyalva's attacks, necessitate quick, precise actions. Players should prioritize rapid attacks using wind magic, maximizing damage output within limited timeframes. The Ys series consistently delivers satisfying boss battles, and Gyalva is no exception.
Understanding Gyalva's Attacks
Gyalva, a unique addition to the remake, possesses diverse attack patterns. While the battle mechanics are straightforward, Gyalva's attacks inflict substantial damage if players are underprepared. Gyalva's movements across the bridge, often launching bridge sections with fiery attacks, demand careful maneuvering. Consider upgrading Adol's equipment and aiming for level 21 before engaging Gyalva for a smoother experience.
Spinning Attacks (Two Variations)
Gyalva employs two spinning attacks:
- A localized spin across a bridge section, launching affected plates into the air. Evade by moving to either side of the affected area.
- A full-bridge traversal, causing all plates to flip. Seek refuge on either bridge ledge.
Avoid the bridge's very edge to prevent being cornered. Instead, strategically reposition to attack Gyalva before retreating to a safe ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches fireballs onto the bridge, flinging plates upward. While damaging, this attack creates an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.
Bursting Torches
Torches along the bridge sporadically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball transfer between torches. These bursts inflict damage; wait for them to subside before moving. The timing of these bursts is unpredictable.
