Pokémon TCG Announces the Return of Beloved Trainer's Pokémon in 2025
Exciting news for Pokémon TCG fans! During the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, The Pokémon Company revealed the comeback of popular features from the game's early days, set for a 2025 release. This includes the highly anticipated return of Trainer's Pokémon cards and a tantalizing hint at the possible return of Team Rocket cards.
While no official date has been confirmed, the announcement included a teaser trailer showcasing trainers like Marnie, Lillie, and N, alongside their signature Pokémon. Featured Trainer's Pokémon included Lillie's Clefairy ex, Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex, N's Zoroark ex, and N's Reshiram. These cards, a hallmark of the original TCG, featured unique abilities and artwork.
The trailer also teased the potential return of Team Rocket, featuring Mewtwo alongside their iconic logo. This fuels speculation about a dedicated Team Rocket card set or even the comeback of Dark Pokémon, another beloved mechanic associated with Team Rocket and their "edgier" Pokémon variants. Rumors of Team Rocket's return have circulated, with reports of a Japanese retailer listing and a trademark filing by The Pokémon Company ("The Glory of Team Rocket").
Paradise Dragona Set Unveiled
Beyond the nostalgic return of Trainer's Pokémon, the 2024 World Championships also offered a sneak peek at the upcoming Paradise Dragona set. PokeBeach reported showcasing Latias, Latios, Exeggcute, and Alolan Exeggutor ex. This Japanese subset, focused on Dragon-type Pokémon, is slated for an English release as part of the Surging Sparks set in November 2024.
The Pokémon TCG continues its exciting updates, culminating in the release of the Shrouded Fable set this month, concluding the Kitikami chapter. This set boasts 99 cards: 64 standard cards and 35 secret rare cards. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding the 2025 release of Trainer's Pokémon and other exciting developments!
