Important Considerations:

  • Console Only: Split-screen functionality is exclusive to consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch). PC players are unfortunately excluded.
  • HD Resolution: Ensure your TV or monitor supports at least 720p HD resolution for optimal split-screen viewing. Your console must also support this resolution. HDMI connection is recommended for automatic resolution adjustment; VGA may require manual configuration within your console settings.

Local Split-Screen Gameplay (Up to 4 Players):

  1. Connect your console: Use an HDMI cable to connect your console to your HD display.
  2. Launch Minecraft: Start Minecraft and select either a new game or an existing world. Crucially, disable multiplayer in the game settings.
  3. Configure your world: Choose your difficulty, world type, and other settings. Skip this step if using a pre-existing world.
  4. Add players: Once the game loads, press the button to add players (usually the "Options" button on PlayStation or the "Start" button on Xbox). You'll need to press it twice.
  5. Sign in: Each player needs to log into their respective accounts to join the game.
  6. Enjoy the split-screen! The screen will automatically divide into sections (2-4 players).

Online Multiplayer with Local Split-Screen:

While you can't directly split-screen with online players, you can combine local split-screen with online multiplayer. Follow steps 1-3 from the local split-screen instructions, but this time enable multiplayer. Then, send invitations to your online friends to join your game.

Minecraft's split-screen mode makes cooperative play incredibly fun. Gather your friends, and get ready for an unforgettable gaming experience!
