Bloober Team, the studio behind the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 Remake, recently revealed a fascinating concept: a Lord of the Rings survival horror game. While the project never progressed beyond the concept stage due to licensing issues, the idea of a grim, Middle-earth-set horror game captivated fans and developers alike.
In a recent Bonfire Conversations podcast, game director Mateusz Lenart discussed the abandoned project. The vision was a chilling survival horror experience, exploring the darker, more terrifying aspects of Tolkien's world. Many believe the rich lore and dark storylines within Tolkien's works would have provided ample material for a truly terrifying game.
Currently, Bloober Team is concentrating on their new title, Cronos: The New Dawn, and potential future collaborations with Konami on Silent Hill projects. Whether they'll revisit the Lord of the Rings horror concept remains to be seen, but the potential for frightening encounters with creatures like the Nazgûl or Gollum certainly sparks the imagination.
