MultiVersus Nears Shutdown: Warner Bros. Game Loses 99% of Players

If Season 5 of MultiVersus fails to meet expectations, it might mark the end of the game. AusilMV, an insider known for accurate game leaks, has reported this concerning possibility. According to his reliable source, Season 5 is viewed as a crucial last attempt to revive the game's fortunes. While it remains a rumor at this stage, the outlook is troubling.

Upon its launch in 2022, MultiVersus enjoyed explosive success, reaching a peak of 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, the game's online presence plummeted by 99% shortly afterward, prompting Warner Bros. Games to close the project in June 2023, labeling it an "open beta test." Despite returning with updates in May 2024, the game has struggled to recapture its initial popularity.

The fifth season, set to begin in early February, could be the developers' final opportunity to rekindle player interest. Essentially, this iteration of MultiVersus represents a relaunch, though the developers have referred to the original 2022 release as a "beta." While the game was initially well-received, the decision to temporarily shut it down in June 2023, announced in March of that year, left many players, particularly those who had purchased the premium edition to support the developers, feeling disappointed.
