Expand Your Stardew Valley Farm with Multiple Pets!
One of the joys of Stardew Valley farming is the companionship of animals. This guide explains how to acquire multiple pets beyond your initial companion.
Unlocking Multiple Pets
Initially, you can adopt one pet (cat or dog). The 1.6 update introduced the ability to have more. To unlock this, you must maximize your friendship level with your existing pet. This involves:
- Daily Watering: Fill your pet's bowl daily (except on rainy or snowy days).
- Daily Petting: Pet your pet once a day (a heart bubble indicates success).
- Check Progress: Monitor your pet's friendship meter in the "Animals" tab of the pause menu.
Once the meter is full, Marnie will email you, informing you of additional pets available at her shop. If you didn't adopt a pet in Year 1, she'll send this email at the start of Year 2.
Adopting Multiple Pets
Visit Marnie's shop (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, closed Mondays and Tuesdays) after receiving her email. Select the "Adopt Pets" option.
You'll see a list of 12 pet licenses:
