Navigating the expansive and often desolate Synthwave landscapes of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be challenging, but the game provides a solution from the very beginning: the Hyper Light Breaker Hoverboard. This essential tool not only enhances your movement speed, allowing you to cover vast distances quickly, but it also serves as the game's sprint mechanic, using your Energy at a slow rate. This guide will walk you through how to summon and ride your Hoverboard, along with some key attributes and unique uses that make it indispensable for exploring the Overgrowth efficiently.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
Summoning your Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker is straightforward. To initiate the sprint and summon the Hoverboard, simply hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the Dodge input.
Controlling the Hoverboard is intuitive. By holding the left analog stick in any direction, you can lean and turn the board. The speed at which you're traveling affects your turning radius; at maximum speed, turns are slower, but at lower speeds, you'll find it easier to maneuver.
To dismount the Hoverboard, release the Dodge input. Additionally, if your Energy depletes while riding, the Hoverboard will automatically de-summon. Keep an eye on your Energy level, displayed next to your Breaker's companion. If it runs low, take a moment to dismount and allow it to recharge, preventing an unexpected dismount.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker doesn't support tricks or combat, it comes with several useful features. Notably, the Hoverboard can float on water, allowing you to traverse rivers and inlets in the Overgrowth without interruption. To use this feature, you must be riding the Hoverboard before entering the water; it cannot be summoned while already submerged. Regardless of your entry speed or height, the Hoverboard will swiftly resurface, enabling continuous travel.
Another handy feature is the ability to prepare a jump while riding. By holding down the default Jump input, you can duck and set up for a leap. Although you can't perform a double-jump on the Hoverboard, the added speed can help you clear larger gaps than usual. Ducking doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it aids in timing precise jumps across challenging terrain.
