The hitbox in Marvel Rivals is controversial

Marvel Rivals, the purported "Overwatch killer," has enjoyed a remarkably successful Steam launch, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 444,000 on its first day – a figure comparable to Miami's population. While lauded for its engaging gameplay and user-friendly monetization (battle passes don't expire!), a significant concern revolves around optimization. Players using graphics cards such as the Nvidia GeForce 3050 report noticeable frame rate drops. Despite this, the game's overall reception remains positive, with many praising its fun factor and value for money.

However, a separate issue gaining traction on the game's Reddit concerns flawed hit detection. Videos showcasing erratic hit registration, even at distances where hits shouldn't connect, have sparked considerable discussion. While lag compensation has been suggested as a contributing factor, many believe the core problem stems from inaccurate or inconsistent hitboxes. Professional players have demonstrated consistent inconsistencies, with shots landing reliably when aimed slightly to the right of the crosshair, but failing when aimed to the left. This points to potentially broken hitbox geometry across multiple characters.
