How Doctor Doom 2099 Works in Marvel Snap
Doctor Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card." These DoomBot 2099s (also 4-cost, 2-power) provide an ongoing buff: "Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power." This synergy extends to regular Doctor Doom, making him even stronger.
Playing one card per turn maximizes Doom 2099's potential, potentially generating three DoomBot 2099s for a significant power boost. Early play or using cards like Magik can further amplify this effect. Ideally, Doom 2099 becomes a 4-cost, 17-power card (or more!).
However, there are drawbacks. The random placement of DoomBots can be unpredictable, potentially hindering your strategy. Furthermore, Enchantress completely negates their power boost.
Best Day One Doctor Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap
Doctor Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement revitalizes Spectrum Ongoing decks. Here's an example:
Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Onslaught. [Untapped deck link]
This budget-friendly deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers flexibility. Early Doom 2099 placement via Psylocke or Electro allows for powerful combos with Wong, Klaw, and Doctor Doom. Alternatively, you can leverage Spectrum's buffs or focus on spreading Doctor Doom's power. Cosmo protects against Enchantress.
Another viable strategy utilizes a Patriot-style approach:
Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum. [Untapped deck link]
Again, this is a cost-effective deck (only Doom 2099 is Series 5). Early game focuses on Mister Sinister and Brood, transitioning to Doom 2099, Blue Marvel, and Doctor Doom. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards. Strategic skipping of DoomBot 2099 spawns allows for powerful final-turn plays. This deck is vulnerable to Enchantress, but Super Skrull counters other Doom 2099 decks.
Is Doctor Doom 2099 Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?
While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099) are weaker cards, Doctor Doom 2099 is a worthwhile investment. His power and deck-building versatility make him a likely meta staple. Using Collector's Tokens is preferable, but don't hesitate to acquire him this month; he's poised to become one of Marvel Snap's most impactful cards.
