Crytek Announces Restructuring and Layoffs

Crytek has confirmed a restructuring initiative resulting in the reduction of its workforce. Approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person team, have been laid off due to ongoing financial difficulties.

This restructuring also impacts the development pipeline. The next Crysis game, a highly anticipated title, has been put on indefinite hold, a decision made in Q3 2024. The company is now focusing all its resources on the continued development and expansion of Hunt: Showdown 1896.

Internal efforts to reassign affected staff to other projects, including Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the future Crysis title, proved unsuccessful. Despite cost-cutting measures, layoffs were deemed necessary.

Crytek's future plans center on bolstering Hunt: Showdown 1896 with new content, while the new Crysis game's release remains uncertain. The company has stated that departing employees will receive severance packages and career support services.

Despite the challenges, Crytek expresses confidence in its long-term prospects, emphasizing its dedication to Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the continued advancement of its CRYENGINE technology.
