A demo of the fan-made sequel Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude has been released

With no official Half-Life 2 Episode 3 in sight, fans are stepping up to create their own continuations. Recently, Pega_Xing unveiled a demo of their Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude mod.

This fan-made sequel plunges players into an Arctic setting. Gordon Freeman, awakening after a helicopter crash, finds himself pursued by the Alliance.

While the current demo is available for players to explore, updates are in the works. These will expand the story and enhance the original, including revised puzzles, improved flashlight mechanics, and optimized level design.

The Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude demo is free to download from ModDB. Adding to the excitement, earlier this year, Mike Shapiro, the voice actor for the G-Man, posted a cryptic teaser on X (formerly Twitter) – his first post since 2020. The teaser, featuring the hashtags #HalfLife, #Valve, #GMan, and #2025, hinted at "unexpected surprises."

While a full Valve-developed game in 2025 might be overly optimistic, a statement announcing something Half-Life related seems entirely plausible. Dataminer Gabe Follower reported, citing sources, that a new Half-Life game is reportedly undergoing internal playtesting at Valve, with apparently positive feedback from the developers.

Current indications strongly suggest the game is progressing well, and the developers are dedicated to continuing Gordon Freeman's saga. The most exciting part? An official announcement could drop at any moment. After all, the unpredictable nature of "Valve Time" is all part of the thrill.
