Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (3x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (-)

Stun the Monster
Ebony Odogaron's speed is its most daunting feature, making it a challenging opponent. To counter this, stunning the monster is crucial. Utilize a nearby Flashfly to temporarily immobilize Ebony Odogaron, or craft Flash Pods to shoot at it for the same effect. This will give you precious moments to attack without being overwhelmed by its rapid movements.
Bring Teammates
Tackling Ebony Odogaron alone can be overwhelming, as you'll spend much of your time dodging its relentless attacks. The solution? Bring teammates. Send out SOS signals to rally other players or rely on NPCs if no one responds. Teammates can serve as a buffer, drawing the monster's attention away from you and allowing you to focus on evasion and counterattacks.
Pull Down Entangled Rocks
During the fight, you'll encounter an area with Entangled Rocks overhead. Use your slinger to bring them down, stunning Ebony Odogaron for a few vital seconds. Remember, this tactic can only be used once per fight. Additionally, craft Pitfall and Shock Traps to immobilize the monster twice more, giving you more opportunities to attack safely.
Beware of Dragonblight
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which, while not directly harmful, will hinder your ability to deal elemental or status damage. To counter this, carry Nulberries to negate the effect, or equip decorations with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to prevent it from impacting your performance.
Inflict Paralysis
Inflicting Paralysis on Ebony Odogaron is highly recommended. This status effect will immobilize the monster temporarily, making the battle significantly easier. If you can knock it down over roots, it may become further entangled, granting you extended periods to deal damage.
Aim for the Head
The head of Ebony Odogaron is its most vulnerable spot, boasting a 3-star weakness. Targeting this area will maximize your damage output, though it puts you at greater risk. If you prefer a safer approach, aim for its forelegs and tail. While less effective, these targets can still yield breaks and contribute to your victory.

How to Capture Ebony Odogaron in Monster Hunter Wilds
Screenshot by The Escapist
Capturing Ebony Odogaron requires you to weaken it first. Reduce its health to 20 percent or less, then deploy a Pitfall or Shock Trap. Follow up with a tranquilizer to put it to sleep. If the monster's health is too high, the tranquilizer won't work, and it will break free, forcing you to resume the fight.
