The Bloodborne community's long-held desire for a remastered edition of the FromSoftware classic has reached fever pitch following recent Instagram activity.
FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram posts reignite Bloodborne remaster hopes
A Beloved Title Deserving a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a fan favorite, with many yearning to revisit Yharnam on current-gen consoles. While no official announcement has been made, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia have fueled intense speculation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three evocative images featuring the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne," showcasing Djura, the Hunter exploring Yharnam, and the Charnel Lane graveyard. These posts, while potentially nostalgic, have been meticulously examined by fans on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), searching for hidden clues hinting at a remaster. The timing is particularly noteworthy, given a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th. The Italian post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location, prompting many to express their hope for a Yharnam return on PC or modern consoles.
The Hunt for a Modern Bloodborne Continues – Almost a Decade Later
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne boasts a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim, yet remains without a sequel or remaster. Fans cite the 2020 Demon's Souls remake as a potential precedent, but also acknowledge the lengthy development time. With the game's tenth anniversary approaching, anticipation is at an all-time high.
Fuel was added to the fire in a February interview with Eurogamer, where director Hidetaka Miyazaki acknowledged the advantages of remastering Bloodborne for modern hardware, emphasizing increased accessibility for a wider audience.
However, Miyazaki also highlighted that the decision rests with Sony, not FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, Bloodborne's IP is owned by Sony, limiting FromSoftware's ability to discuss potential projects. Similar sentiments were echoed in an IGN interview.
Despite its success, Bloodborne's availability remains limited to the PS4. The passionate fanbase eagerly awaits confirmation of a remaster, a decision ultimately in Sony's hands. Only time will tell if these recent hints translate into reality.
