AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 (AFMF 2) Performance Improvements

AMD recently showcased AFMF 2, highlighting substantial improvements. These include the aforementioned latency decrease and various resolution-specific modes for optimized performance across different gaming rigs. The technology incorporates refined optimizations and adjustable settings for enhanced frame rates and smoother gameplay.

AMD's internal testing, using AI algorithms to enhance image quality while minimizing latency, yielded positive results. A gamer poll conducted by AMD reported an average 9.3/10 rating for image quality and smoothness.

"This represents a substantial leap forward from AFMF 1," AMD stated. "To expedite access for gamers, we're releasing it as a technical preview, welcoming your feedback to further refine AFMF 2."

AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 (AFMF 2) Latency Reduction

The most significant advancement in AFMF 2 is the considerable latency reduction. AMD's benchmarks show up to a 28% average latency decrease compared to its predecessor. Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra Ray Tracing serves as a prime example, showcasing this marked improvement. AMD encourages players to experience this enhanced responsiveness firsthand.

AFMF 2 also features expanded compatibility and functionality. It now supports borderless fullscreen modes with AMD Radeon RX 7000 and 700M series graphics cards. Furthermore, its compatibility with Vulkan and OpenGL APIs contributes to smoother animations. Finally, seamless integration with AMD Radeon Chill allows for driver-controlled FPS capping.
