2025's First Deadlock Update: Surprisingly Small

Author : Olivia May 20,2025

Valve has returned from the New Year holidays, and game developers are now rolling out fresh patches. While we anticipated a comprehensive update for Deadlock following the shift from its bi-weekly cycle, Valve opted for a lighter touch to kick off the year.

The recent patch focused solely on one hero: Yamato, who experienced a minor nerf with reduced damage scaling and a decreased attack speed bonus at the first level of Shadow Transformation. Additionally, abilities such as Frenzy, Berserker, and Restorative Shot were weakened, whereas Alchemical Fire saw a slight rework.

Given the size of this update, it's probable that we'll need to wait a bit longer for a more substantial patch. However, predicting when that will happen is currently challenging.

It's important to mention that Deadlock has recently seen a decline in its player base, possibly due to the popularity of Marvel Rivals. Despite being in deep beta, maintaining a consistent player count of 7,000–19,000 is still a commendable achievement. Keep in mind, Valve has not yet released any information regarding potential release dates or the game's monetization model.
