Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd. This marks the third annual event and the first Xbox game showcase of 2025. Following the successful launches of the 2023 and 2024 iterations, this January showcase will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This announcement follows earlier rumors circulating on January 9th.

  • Confirmed Games: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Doom: The Dark Ages, and South of Midnight

Spotlight on Confirmed Titles:

The showcase will feature three confirmed titles:

  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few), originally announced in June 2023. A release date is anticipated.

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, targeting a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.

  • Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, initially announced in June 2024 and playable at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 launch is rumored.

Beyond the Confirmed Lineup:

While these three titles are confirmed, past Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple games. The 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Expect the possibility of additional unannounced titles in the 2025 showcase.
