The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Rune Slayer

Author : Zoe Apr 11,2025

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, Rune Slayer has finally hit the scene, and it's nothing short of spectacular. Whether you're new to MMORPGs or a seasoned veteran, diving into Rune Slayer can be both exciting and overwhelming. Fear not, as we've compiled a comprehensive guide to kickstart your adventure in this captivating world.

Rune Slayer Beginner Tips

Here are some crucial insights we wish we had known from the start to make your journey smoother.

Do Not Randomly Attack Other Players

When we first heard that Rune Slayer would feature full-loot PvP, we braced ourselves for a chaotic free-for-all. However, that's not entirely the case. **When you die in Rune Slayer, you don't lose anything**, even if it's at the hands of another player. You simply respawn and continue your adventure.

However, **attacking other players will earn you a bounty**. The more players you kill, the higher your bounty grows, and the more items you'll drop upon your next death. Essentially, the only way to turn Rune Slayer into a full-loot PvP experience is by initiating combat and then getting defeated. Therefore, our advice is to **avoid attacking other players** unless you have a solid reason or a group to back you up.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly realize that your **bank and inventory space** are quite limited. Carrying 50 items might sound ample, but trust us, it fills up fast. To alleviate this, the game allows you to **craft bags**. You can equip two bags simultaneously, and the first one you can craft is the **Cotton Bag**.

To craft a Cotton Bag, gather **Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south**. Be cautious in the southern areas due to tougher mobs. Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots to your inventory, so start crafting these as soon as possible.

Your Pets Don’t Actually Die

There's a common misconception that your tamed pets die permanently when their health reaches zero. This is not true.

**When your pet 'dies', it can't be summoned for 5 minutes**. You can check the cooldown by holding **T**. After the cooldown, hold **T** again to resummon your pet. A handy tip: to **quickly heal your pet**, store and unstore it at the stable master, which you can do for free once.

Grab All the Quests (Yes, All of Them)

Rune Slayer is packed with quests, many of which are not repeatable and can be forgettable. They often resemble the typical "Kill 10 X" quests common in MMORPGs. Since you might not read each quest thoroughly, **accept every quest you encounter**. This includes everything on the Job board.

Completing multiple quests simultaneously is more efficient than tackling them one by one. You might even find that you can complete several quests at once, making your progress much smoother.

Craft Everything at Least Once (Even Things You Don’t Need)

While prioritizing what you need is key, **don't hesitate to craft items even if you don't need them immediately**. Crafting new items often unlocks more advanced crafting options. For instance, smelting your first Iron Ore unlocked a range of new Iron Armor crafts for us. So, make the most of your materials and experiment with crafting.

Join a Guild

Rune Slayer is friendly to solo players, but as you delve deeper, you'll encounter **tougher enemies** designed for group play. The simplest way to find a group is by joining a **guild**. You can shout in general chat or use the official Rune Slayer Discord server to find one. Having guildmates will make tackling those challenging foes much easier.

That wraps up our guide to getting started in Rune Slayer. Enjoy your journey, and if you're yet to start, check out the Rune Slayer Trello and Discord for more resources and community support.
