Suikoden's upcoming mobile game, Suikoden STAR LEAP, is designed to provide an experience akin to a console game. In an insightful interview with Famitsu on March 4, 2025, the Star Leap development team shared their vision for the game.

Star Leap Producer Shinya Fujimatsu elaborated on the choice of mobile as the platform, stating, "Our goal was to make Suikoden accessible to as many players as possible, so we chose mobile for its ease of use. The team's ambition is to blend the rich visuals, immersive sound, and compelling stories of console games with the convenience and accessibility of mobile gaming.

Fujimatsu emphasized the unique blend of themes in Suikoden, saying, "Suikoden is known for its portrayal of war alongside themes of friendship. In Suikoden STAR LEAP, it's crucial to convey the saga of the new 108 stars."

Suikoden STAR LEAP Director Yoshiki Meng Shan highlighted the series' distinctive elements, noting, "The series has a lively atmosphere, yet it also delves into serious moments. The dynamic battle system, where numerous characters collaborate, is a hallmark of Suikoden."

Star Leap will serve as both a sequel and a prequel, weaving through various eras within the Suikoden universe. It introduces a new chapter in the series' official history, beginning two years before the events of Suikoden 1 and extending through other timelines, effectively linking to Suikoden 1 to 5.

Fujimatsu encouraged fans and newcomers alike to anticipate the game's high quality, stating, "Even if you're new to the series, we've designed Suikoden STAR LEAP to be accessible and easy to engage with on mobile. We hope it serves as an inviting entry point into the 'Suikoden Genso' saga."

Echoing this, Meng Shan added, "Suikoden stands as one of Japan's premier RPG series. We've meticulously crafted every aspect—from the storyline and graphics to the battle system, sound, and character development—to honor its legacy. We look forward to you experiencing it upon release."

Suikoden STAR LEAP was unveiled during the Suikoden Live broadcast on March 4, 2025, alongside other exciting updates for the series. The game is in development for iOS and Android, with no specific release date announced yet.
