Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of last year's Helldivers 2, is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan feedback.
The response included suggestions ranging from a Smash TV remake to a Star Fox-inspired title. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake has been internally discussed, and also mentioned exploring a Star Fox-esque concept within the "rail game" genre.
While specifics remain confidential, Arrowhead's active community engagement is evident. The success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.
A recent update for Helldivers 2 has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. The Omens of Tyranny expansion, unveiled during the 2024 Game Awards, has been well-received, introducing the highly anticipated Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps. With a rumored Killzone crossover also in the pipeline, Helldivers 2 appears poised for continued success in 2025.
