Squid Game: Unleashed is getting a major content update to coincide with the release of season two of the hit Netflix show. Expect new characters, a new map, and exciting challenges! Plus, you can earn exclusive rewards by watching the new episodes.
Netflix's surprising move to make Squid Game: Unleashed free to all players, subscribers and non-subscribers alike, just before the holidays, has proven to be a smart strategy. Now, with this new content drop, they're further incentivizing players to engage with both the game and the show.
So what's new in the game? Starting January 3rd, players can explore a new map inspired by the Mingle mini-game from Squid Game season two. Three new playable characters—Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos—will also be introduced throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos will each have special in-game events running on January 3rd-9th and January 9th-14th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. And here's the best part: watching episodes of Squid Game season two will reward you with in-game Cash and Wild Tokens! Watching up to seven episodes unlocks the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's a detailed schedule of the January content drop:
- January 3rd: The Mingle map launches alongside Geum-Ja. Participate in the Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event (until January 9th) featuring Mingle-inspired mini-games and Dalgona tin collection.
- January 9th: Thanos joins the roster with his own recruitment event, the Thanos’ Red Light Challenge (until January 14th). Eliminate players using knives to unlock this character.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik arrives as the final new character in this wave of additions.
Squid Game: Unleashed is shaping up to be a significant success for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model, combined with the clever incentive of rewarding Netflix subscribers who watch the show, creates a synergistic relationship between the game and the original series.
