Square Enix Unveils PC Features for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Summary

  • A recent trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's PC version confirms numerous features for the platform.
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will support up to 4K resolution and 120fps on PC, while also offering improved lighting and enhanced visuals.
  • Additionally, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's PC port will offer support for mouse and keyboard, the PS5's DualSense controller, and Nvidia DLSS.

Square Enix has unveiled a range of exciting features for the upcoming PC port of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth through a new trailer. Originally launched as a PS5 exclusive in February 2024, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth quickly became one of the year's highest-rated games and a strong contender for Game of the Year. After its three-month PS5 exclusivity period, the demand from PC and Xbox players surged. Although an Xbox release remains uncertain, Square Enix confirmed last month that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be available on PC starting January 23, 2025.

Following the release of the full PC requirements, Square Enix's recent trailer highlighted several PC-exclusive features. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will support up to 4K resolution and 120fps, alongside "improved lighting" and "enhanced visuals." While the specifics of these enhancements remain undisclosed, players can anticipate detailed improvements upon the game's PC launch. Additionally, the game will offer three graphical presets - Low, Medium, and High - allowing players to optimize their settings based on their hardware. There's also an option to adjust the number of NPCs on screen, which should help manage CPU load.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC Features List

  • Mouse and keyboard support
  • DualSense controller support
  • Support for up to 4K resolution and 120fps
  • Improved lighting and enhanced visuals
  • Three adjustable graphical presets - High, Medium, Low
    • Option to set the number of NPCs on screen
  • Nvidia DLSS

For input methods, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will support mouse and keyboard on PC. Controller enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of the PS5's DualSense, which retains its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Nvidia DLSS will enhance performance, although the trailer did not mention support for AMD's FSR, which might put AMD graphics card users at a slight performance disadvantage.

Despite the wait, many PC gamers are eagerly anticipating Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's arrival. The robust feature set promises a compelling experience, and it will be fascinating to see how the game performs commercially on PC. While Square Enix expressed some disappointment with the sales pace on PS5, the PC version's success remains to be seen.
