Metal Gear Solid Welcomes the Year of the Snake with Snake Year Performance for Snake

Happy Snake Year! Metal Gear Solid voice actor David Hayter rings in 2025, the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac, with a special greeting. Discover what exciting developments await the Metal Gear franchise this year!

A Fortunate Coincidence

David Hayter, the iconic voice of Solid Snake and Big Boss, shared a New Year's message on Bluesky, highlighting the auspicious timing of 2025 as the Year of the Snake. With a highly anticipated new Metal Gear title on the horizon, it seems this might just be Solid Snake's year as well. Hayter will reprise his role as Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake.

Konami themselves acknowledged this serendipitous alignment with a New Year's video featuring Taiko drummers and a calligraphy artist creating the kanji for "snake," culminating in a bold "SNAKE YEAR" announcement. This underscores the significance of 2025 not only for the Chinese zodiac but also for Solid Snake's return.

Since its May 2024 announcement, accompanied by a trailer and Tokyo Game Show demo, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has remained relatively quiet. However, producer Noriaki Okamura recently told 4Gamer that delivering a high-quality, polished game is a top priority for 2025—and a significant challenge.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Expect next-gen enhancements, including the return of Phantom Pain mechanics, along with new voice work and additional dialogue from the original cast.
