The Roland-Garros eSeries by Renault has officially unveiled its eight finalists, cementing its status as one of the premier eSports tournaments worldwide. With a staggering 515,000 participants from 221 countries engaging in 9.5 million Tennis Clash matches, the competition has been nothing short of intense. The excitement culminates on May 24th, where these finalists will vie for the championship title at the Roland-Garros Tenniseum.
Reigning champion Alessandro Bianco will defend his title against a formidable lineup including Hizir Balkanci, the winner of the first Open Qualifier, along with Anyndia Lestari, Omer Feder, Adjua Thembisa Boucher, Eugen Mosdir, Bartu Yildirim, and Samuel Sanin Ortiz. The anticipation is palpable as these skilled players prepare to battle it out.
This year's tournament introduces an electrifying format where the finalists are divided into two teams, each led by a tennis legend. Gilles Simon, a former ATP world number 6 and a finalist from last year, will captain one team, while former Wimbledon Champion Marion Bartoli will lead the other. The teams will compete in a series of matches, with the victors advancing to the Winner Bracket. However, the competition doesn't end for the defeated; they'll have a chance to redeem themselves in the Loser Bracket, where individual prowess will determine the ultimate champion of the Roland-Garros eSeries.
Adding to the excitement, the event will be hosted by Samuel Etienne, a renowned French personality and Twitch streamer with over 1 million followers. He will be joined by esports expert Quento and former Tennis Clash number 1, Benny, known as GP365. The tournament will be brought to life in true Roland-Garros fashion, featuring a replica of the iconic Philippe-Chatrier court and custom outfits. Esteemed French umpire Aurélie Tourte will officiate, ensuring a thrilling series of matches.
250 lucky spectators will witness the action live at the auditorium, while fans around the world can tune in via Samuel Etienne's Twitch channel and the Roland-Garros YouTube channel at 4pm CEST. Viewers can expect to watch every match, participate in interactive segments, and enjoy engaging discussions with special guests, all revolving around the thrilling worlds of tennis and eTennis.
