Ratatan, the spiritual successor to the beloved Patapon series, has unveiled its official gameplay trailer, giving fans an exciting glimpse into what they can expect from this highly anticipated game. The trailer not only showcases the game's core mechanics but also teases a thrilling boss battle, leaving fans eager for more. You can check out the gameplay trailer below.

During IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, Ratatan Works, the developers behind Ratatan, released this captivating trailer. It highlights the game's unique blend of rhythm roguelike action, merging the excitement of rhythm games with dynamic side-scrolling action. One of the standout features is the online co-op mode, which will support up to four players, allowing you to team up with friends for an exhilarating experience. Moreover, players will have the opportunity to command up to 100 characters in epic melee battles, adding a layer of strategic depth to the gameplay.

Ratatan is being crafted by Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, and features music from the original Patapon composer, Kemmei Adachi. Launched on Kickstarter in 2023, the campaign has successfully met its console launch stretch goal, ensuring that Ratatan will make its way to console platforms.

Closed Beta Test Scheduled for February 27, 2025

Ratatan Gameplay Trailer Reveals 4 Person Online Co-Op

In exciting news for fans, Ratatan is set to launch its closed beta on February 27, 2025. Kazuto Sakajiri, the producer of Ratatan, shared some significant updates on the game's progress via the Kickstarter page. He announced that Ratatan has now surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and has received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo.

Although Ratatan will not participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta to ensure a polished demo for the Steam Next festival scheduled for June. Sakajiri outlined that the initial closed beta build will include up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 being added throughout the testing period, which will span about a month. Keep an eye on Ratatan's official Discord and X channels for announcements regarding the distribution of codes, start date, and time.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While a specific release date has yet to be announced, the anticipation for this game continues to build among fans eager to dive into its rhythm-based roguelike adventure.
