Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals

Author : Joseph May 04,2025

The Pokémon Company has officially responded to the frustrations of fans struggling to obtain recent Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent announcement, the company confirmed that reprints are in the works and that they are diligently working to ensure products reach their fans.

The latest set, Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Destined Rivals, encountered a slew of issues including product shortages, pre-order complications, and scalping. Other sets like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box have similarly been in high demand, making them challenging to acquire.

In a statement on their official website, The Pokémon Company (TPC) acknowledged the difficulties fans are facing in purchasing certain Pokémon TCG products due to high demand affecting availability. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement explained. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers soon."

Furthermore, TPC announced plans to "maximize production" for upcoming TCG expansions to improve product availability at launch. They also committed to continue reprinting affected products to restock inventory, including at the Pokémon Center.

In response to the issue of scalping, The Pokémon Company subtly addressed their approach. For Pokémon Center releases, they aim to "provide a smooth purchasing experience and employ technology that helps get products into the hands of fans first and foremost." To manage high traffic, the Pokémon Center currently uses a virtual queue system for certain products.

"We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated. "We’d like to thank the community for their continued support and patience as we work to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans."

With these commitments from The Pokémon Company, fans are hopeful that upcoming releases will be less stressful to collect and enjoy, enhancing the overall experience of the Pokémon TCG.
