Pokémon TCG Pocket Unveils Trading Feature and Space-Time Smackdown

Author : Emily May 06,2025

As we approach the end of January, fans of Pokémon TCG Pocket have something exciting to look forward to. The highly anticipated trading feature has finally launched, accompanied by the release of a major new expansion, Space-Time Smackdown!

Let's dive into how the trading feature works. Essentially, it enables you to exchange cards with friends in a manner similar to real-life trading. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind. Only cards of certain rarities (1-4 and 1-star) can be traded, and you'll need resources like trade hourglasses and trade tokens to make these exchanges. Despite these restrictions, this feature is a significant addition to the game.

But that's not all! Alongside the trading feature, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion has debuted, introducing iconic legendary Pokémon such as Dialga and Palkia to TCG Pocket. You'll also encounter the Sinnoh region starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, along with many other exciting additions.

ytIce-typeUnfortunately, the trading feature has received a somewhat chilly reception from the community. While I believe the inclusion of this feature is a positive move and it's been implemented well, the numerous caveats have clearly frustrated many players. In my opinion, Pokémon TCG Pocket would have benefited from either omitting the trading feature altogether or making it as unrestricted as possible, without the need for resources or limitations on which cards can be traded.

There's hope on the horizon, though, as there are indications that the developers are closely monitoring the feedback and may introduce changes soon.
