Overture DLC Not Linked to Base Game's Final Cutscene, Says Lies of P Director

Author : Benjamin May 13,2025

The anticipation surrounding the upcoming Lies of P DLC, Overture, has fans buzzing with excitement and speculation about the mysteries it may hold. At the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN gained insight into one mystery the DLC won't address: the enigmatic final cutscene of the base game. For those yet to experience the end of Lies of P, the cutscene teases potential directions for the universe without giving too much away. It's a twist that has sparked intense speculation about its implications for future content. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi confirmed that this particular cutscene isn't connected to the Overture DLC. Choi remained tight-lipped on further details, only stating, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

Neowiz has already announced a sequel to Lies of P, suggesting that the mysterious cutscene might be setting the stage for Lies of P 2. However, details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi was not forthcoming with any hints during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, saying, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The cutscene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the Dorothy scene. As detailed in our previous coverage, the final cutscene shows Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intent to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, hinting at a connection to other public domain fairy tales in future Lies of P content. However, Choi confirmed that this plot point won't be explored in Overture.

While the Dorothy mystery remains unsolved, Choi did provide some tantalizing hints about what fans can expect from the Overture DLC. He suggested that players should replay the base game to uncover clues scattered throughout the world that hint at the upcoming content. "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi explained. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion."

Choi also noted that some fans are already piecing together Neowiz's plans, as he regularly follows fan theories online and finds that "some of them are quite close." Additionally, he shared that the Overture DLC is expected to take experienced players between 15-20 hours to complete. It will be accessible after players reach a "certain" chapter of the game and remain available until the end. As previously announced, the DLC serves as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Overture will introduce new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
