Author : Ellie Apr 20,2025

It feels like the speculation about the specs of Nintendo's long-awaited Nintendo Switch upgrade has finally come to an end, and the results are more impressive than many anticipated. The Nintendo Switch 2 not only supports up to 120fps but also reaches up to 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant leap forward in gaming performance.

PlayDuring today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled several key features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to its predecessor, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm but with double the pixels. It supports a 1080p resolution in handheld mode at up to 120fps and features an LCD screen with HDR capabilities. When docked, it can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR as well.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers introduce a new magnetic connection system and are detached using a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing the horizontal gameplay experience, while the left and right sticks have also been upsized. Additionally, this segment officially confirmed the inclusion of mouse control support in the Joy-Con controllers.

The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with a built-in microphone featuring noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also includes a more robust and adjustable stand than the original Switch, allowing for different height settings. A top USB port is available for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.

We also learned that the Nintendo Switch 2 is equipped with 256GB of internal storage, offering ample space for gamers.
