Nintendo Delays Japanese Alarmo Release Despite Global Availability
Nintendo has announced a postponement of the Alarmo alarm clock's general retail release in Japan due to insufficient stock. The launch, initially planned for February 2025, is now delayed indefinitely. This decision follows unexpectedly high demand.
Production and inventory challenges are cited as the reason for the delay. Currently, there's no indication of whether this will impact the March 2025 global release date outside of Japan.
To address the immediate demand in Japan, Nintendo is implementing a pre-order system exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. This pre-order window opens mid-December, with shipments beginning early February 2025. Specific pre-order dates will be announced shortly.
The Alarmo, a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring music from popular Nintendo franchises (Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, RingFit Adventure, and more), launched globally in October. Its immediate popularity led to a suspension of online orders and a lottery system for remaining stock. Physical units sold out rapidly in Japanese and New York Nintendo stores.
Further updates on pre-orders and the rescheduled general sale will be shared as they become available.
