Metaphor: ReFantazio's expanding party: A guide to recruiting your companions.
Beyond the main character, seven companions will join your adventure in Metaphor: ReFantazio, each contributing their unique combat skills. While Gallica is present from the start, her combat role is initially limited.
Note: This guide contains minor spoilers regarding party member recruitment.
Each party member joins on specific days during key story events. Some additions may be unexpected, so proceed with caution if you prefer to experience these moments unspoiled.
Party Member Recruitment Timeline:
Each companion will awaken to their Archetype, a power usable by any party member. Early companions may be initially AI-controlled, but later recruits awaken just before their first combat appearance.
-
Strohl (Warrior): Joins on June 5th during the Border Fort events, but his Archetype awakens the following day, June 6th, at the Nord Mines. Until then, he's AI-controlled.
-
Grius: Joins after the Border Fort events, but becomes a full party member on June 6th, after Strohl's awakening. Grius doesn't undergo the same Archetype awakening as others.
-
Hulkenberg (Knight): First interacts with the party on June 10th. Her full party integration and Archetype awakening occur during the boss fight on June 11th.
-
Heismay (Thief): Heismay's introduction happens during your free time in Martira. His Archetype awakening and party integration occur on July 4th within the town's main dungeon.
-
Junah (Masked Dancer): While present throughout the game, Junah joins the party upon her Archetype awakening on August 13th.
-
Eupha (Summoner): Eupha's recruitment offers more flexibility. During your free time on Viraga Island (August 19th - September 4th), complete the Dragon Temple Dungeon. Eupha joins for the final boss on whichever day you complete the dungeon; however, her Bond quest begins after this period.
-
Basilio (Berserker): Awakens and joins the party on September 11th during the Saint's Day events. However, he becomes fully usable in combat the following day.
