NetEase Games is committed to keeping Marvel Rivals fresh and exciting for its players through regular updates. The developers plan to roll out an update approximately every six weeks, introducing two new heroes every three months. This strategy ensures that there's always something new for players to explore, enhancing their gaming experience.
In a recent interview, game director Guangyun Chen revealed that each seasonal update is divided into two parts. During the first half of the season, one new hero is added to the game, followed by another hero in the second half. This approach keeps both the audience and players engaged and eager for what's next.
Alongside new heroes, Marvel Rivals will also offer updates featuring new maps, stories, and objectives. Among the characters that have been teased or introduced, Blade is not yet playable, while Altron has been mentioned due to leaks. Additionally, the entire Fantastic Four team has recently been unveiled, adding to the anticipation.
The game has achieved significant financial success, earning around $100 million globally. According to the Chinese publication GameLook, the Chinese market has been a major contributor to these earnings. Marvel, traditionally dominant in the film industry, has made a notable entry into the gaming sector with Marvel Rivals.
Despite the challenges faced by Square Enix's Avengers, Marvel Rivals has successfully filled a niche in the game-service genre. The NetEase studio has delivered a high-quality heroic shooter with a roster of engaging characters, which has been well-received since its launch.
