Author : Audrey May 13,2025

June might seem like a distant horizon for Magic: The Gathering enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the upcoming Final Fantasy set, but the wait just got a bit more exciting. Today, Wizards of the Coast unveiled a tantalizing sneak peek at over a dozen never-before-seen cards from the set, featuring iconic characters such as Sephiroth, Yuffie, Cecil, Garland, Chaos, and more. This reveal not only showcases new cards but also includes a variety of art variations, complementing the four commander cards previously revealed: Tidus, Cloud, Y'shtola, and Terra.

The preview offers a glimpse into the set's powerful legendary cards, including Sephiroth and Cecil, as well as a new Food token art and art variations on cards like Stilzkin, Moogle Merchant; Sin, Spira's Punishment; and Summon: Shiva. Today's reveal also highlights some unique features of the set, such as Summons, which mark Magic's first-ever Saga creatures that players can summon for assistance in battle, exemplified by Summon: Shiva in the gallery. Additionally, the set reintroduces double-faced cards, as seen with Cecil's dual aspects: Dark Knight and Redeemed Paladin.

The Final Fantasy set is set to include over 100 legendary creature cards, with 55 of these being borderless legends, crafted by beloved artists from the rich history of Final Fantasy. This set is fully draftable and Standard-legal, and will launch alongside four preconstructed Commander decks, each inspired by a different Final Fantasy game: 6, 7, 10, and 14. Each deck contains 100 cards, blending new Final Fantasy cards with existing cards adorned with fresh Final Fantasy art. Mark your calendars for the set's release on June 13.
