Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) has surpassed over 250,000 concurrent players on Steam as of February 9, 2025. KCD2's Creative Director, Daniel Vávra, announced on Twitter (X) that the game hit a peak of 256,206 concurrent players. Since its launch, KCD2 has broken its own concurrent player record each day from February 4 to February 9.

- February 6: 185,582 concurrent Steam players

- February 8: 233,586 concurrent Steam players
- February 9: 256,206 concurrent Steam players
According to various sources, the game has sold an estimated 890,000 copies on Steam alone. Currently, KCD2 ranks as the 2nd top-selling game on Steam, only behind Counter-Strike 2, and the 5th most-played game following CS2, Dota 2, Marvel Rivals, and Banana.
KCD2 achieved 1 million sales at launch and, based on the current estimates of its Steam sales, it's on track to reach 2 million copies sold.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Attention To Detail
The overwhelming success of KCD2 during its opening weekend can be attributed to Warhorse Studios' meticulous attention to detail, enhancing immersion and player enjoyment. Known for its commitment to realism, the series continues to push boundaries, with features like perishable food, the necessity to clean clothes and armor, and the need to sharpen swords regularly. KCD2 builds on this foundation, further immersing players into a 15th-century medieval world.
KCD2's Senior Game Designer, Ondřej Bittner, discussed a new stealth mechanic with GamesRadar, highlighting how accumulating dirt and grime can lead to a debuff. "If you get the debuff that, you know, your body odour, you smell. There's like a circle around you," Bittner explained. "Basically, you're broadcasting, like, I'm here."
Additionally, the game introduces "handgonnes," early firearms that are historically accurate but challenging to use due to long reload times, inaccuracy, and safety concerns. Bittner shared with PC Gamer, "So we knew it was going to be a meme weapon, but we were cool with it."
KCD2's PR Manager, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, emphasized their goal of authenticity over hyperaccuracy. "We want to have an intriguing and cool and fun and nice videogame. However, we try extremely hard to make it as authentic as possible. We double check the stuff, so that when the player plays it, or whenever someone checks it, that the things that are listed in there are at least plausible," he stated.
Post-Launch Roadmap
Warhorse Studios has outlined a post-launch roadmap to keep players engaged beyond the initial release. KCD2 will offer free updates and paid DLC content throughout 2025.
The free updates include the Barber feature, Hardcore mode, and Horse Racing, all set to launch in Spring 2025. Paid DLCs will roll out starting in Summer with "Brushes with Death," followed by "Legacy of the Forge" in Autumn, and "Mysteria Ecclesiae" in Winter.
With its stellar opening weekend performance, KCD2 is poised to sustain its commercial success through these updates and expansions, potentially setting new records along the way.
