Jason Momoa is set to bring the iconic character Lobo to life in the 2026 DC Universe movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Known for his role as Aquaman in the former DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Momoa will now transition to the rebooted DC Universe (DCU) to portray the alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, Lobo. This character, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983 and hails from the planet Czarnia, making him the last survivor of his world, much like Superman.
From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Momoa expressed his excitement and nervousness about playing Lobo, a character he has always admired. He hinted that fans can expect a faithful representation of Lobo, complete with the character's rough and gruff demeanor and iconic motorcycle. However, Momoa also noted that Lobo's appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be brief, emphasizing that it is primarily Supergirl's movie.
In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, although it didn’t reveal much. On *Bluesky*, Gunn announced that production had started on *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*, starring *House of the Dragon*'s Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. The film is heavily inspired by the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The story follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who recruits Supergirl to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. Matthias Schoenaerts will play Krem, while Eve Ridley will portray Ruthye. The cast also includes David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El and Emily Beecham as her mother.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release in June 2026, making it the second film in the new DCU following James Gunn's Superman, which is set to hit theaters this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for September 2026.
