The lead developers of the highly anticipated life simulation game, inZOI, recently tackled some burning questions from fans, particularly around the sensitive topic of sexual intercourse within the game. The assistant director provided a notably ambiguous response, steering clear of explicit terms like "sex." The gist of the answer suggested that while male and female ZOIs might retreat to bed together with the apparent intent of procreation, the visual depiction of these interactions would be left largely to the player's imagination.
Perhaps that’s exactly what’s happening, but not at the level everyone expected.
This leaves players puzzled about whether inZOI will adopt a censorship approach akin to The Sims series or introduce a novel method altogether.
Furthermore, the developers shed light on another intriguing aspect: why ZOIs shower in towels instead of employing pixelated censorship. They explained that this choice aligns better with games featuring more cartoonish graphics. In contrast, using blurring in a game with realistic graphics could inadvertently come across as overly sexualized. Additionally, they revealed a technical challenge: a bug where pixelated censorship failed to appear in reflections when a naked ZOI stood in front of a mirror.
In fact, clarity on these matters can be gleaned from the game's ratings assigned by regulatory bodies. inZOI has been rated ESRB - T (for teens), with an expected PEGI 12 rating, mirroring the ratings given to The Sims 4. These ratings offer a clear indication of the game's content boundaries and approach to sensitive themes.
