Project ETHOS: A Fresh Take on the Hero Shooter Genre
2K Games and 31st Union present Project ETHOS, a free-to-play hero shooter designed to redefine the genre. Blending the dynamic action of hero shooters with the strategic depth of roguelikes, ETHOS offers fast-paced, third-person gameplay.
What sets Project ETHOS apart? Its innovative "Evolutions" system. Each match features randomized Evolutions that dramatically alter your chosen hero's abilities, forcing adaptation and strategic improvisation. Turn your sniper into a close-quarters combatant, or transform a support character into a solo powerhouse – the possibilities are endless.
Project ETHOS features two core game modes:
Trials: This signature mode challenges teams of three to compete against both human and AI opponents. Collect cores, strategically choose your extraction time, and use your earnings to unlock upgrades for future runs. Death means losing your cores, adding a thrilling layer of risk and reward. Join ongoing matches or wait for a new one – the choice is yours. Match duration is displayed before joining.
Gauntlet: A classic competitive PvP mode. Battle through brackets, upgrading your hero with each victory, culminating in a final showdown. Elimination means waiting for the next round.
How to Participate in the Project ETHOS Playtest
Project ETHOS embraces community feedback, regularly updating with new content based on player input. The playtest, running from October 17th to 21st, offers access through participating Twitch streams (30 minutes of viewing earns a key). You can also register on the official website for future playtest opportunities.
Current Playtest Region: The playtest is currently limited to the United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy.
