Speculation Mounts: Will GTA 6 Arrive on PC?
Take-Two Interactive's CEO hints at a potential future PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), fueling anticipation among fans. While an official PC launch hasn't been confirmed, the company's history and recent statements suggest it's a strong possibility.
Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently spoke with IGN, revealing that while Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on consoles and PC, Rockstar Games, historically, has staggered releases across different platforms. This aligns with the release patterns of previous Rockstar titles. GTA 5, for instance, launched on consoles first, followed by a PC release later. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar trajectory.
Although not explicitly confirming a PC release for GTA 6, Zelnick's comments strongly indicate the company's interest in bringing the game to the platform eventually. While many fans hoped for a simultaneous launch, the precedent set by past Rockstar titles suggests a later PC release is likely.
PC's Growing Importance in Gaming
Zelnick emphasized the increasing significance of the PC market, noting that PC versions of multiplatform games can contribute up to 40% of total sales. He expressed confidence in GTA 6's strong performance across all platforms, including consoles, despite recent reports of declining console sales. He believes GTA 6's release will boost console sales, while simultaneously acknowledging the expanding PC market share.
GTA 6's fall 2025 release date remains firm, but the PC release remains unconfirmed. Stay tuned for updates on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
Expansion to Nintendo Switch 2?
Take-Two's interest in bringing its titles to the Nintendo Switch 2 was also highlighted in a recent conference call. While no concrete announcements were made, Zelnick expressed optimism about supporting the platform, particularly given the inclusion of Civilization 7 on the Switch.
