The Lore of Terenos
The game's world, Terenos, boasts a history spanning a century before the game's events. A golden age of prosperity and peace was shattered by a cataclysmic event: the emergence of an evil force, a regicide, and the descent of the gods into madness. A band of heroes' valiant efforts to defeat this evil were betrayed, plunging Terenos into an era of darkness, suspicion, and strife. This "Cataclysm" left behind not only monstrous creatures but also deep-seated societal distrust.
The Continents of Terenos
Terenos comprises five distinct continents:
- Vordlands: A stable, mountainous region reminiscent of Central Europe.
- Siborni: A prosperous maritime civilization echoing medieval Italy.
- Urklund: A frigid, perilous land of warring clans and fearsome beasts.
- Hanchura: A vast, ancient continent resembling China.
- Cartha: A sprawling landmass of deserts, jungles, and magic.

A Glimpse into the Heroes
Each of Grimguard Tactics' 21 Hero types possesses a rich backstory. For example, the Mercenary, initially a loyal swordsman, became disillusioned after a mission involving the needless slaughter of innocent beings. This disillusionment led him down a path of mercenary work, driven purely by self-interest. All Heroes share similarly detailed biographies, contributing to the game's immersive world.
