Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Release?

Recent speculation suggests that the action RPG Gotham Knights could be making its way to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume, as highlighted by YouTuber Doctre81 on January 5, 2025.

The resume, belonging to a developer with a history at QLOC (2018-2023), lists several notable titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. Crucially, it also includes Gotham Knights, specifying development for two unreleased platforms. While one could potentially be the original Nintendo Switch (given a previous, now-removed ESRB rating), performance concerns on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S cast doubt on this. The second unreleased platform strongly hints at the Nintendo Switch 2.

Past Switch Speculation and ESRB Rating Removal

Gotham Knights, initially launched in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, was briefly rumored for a Nintendo Switch release following an ESRB rating. This fueled anticipation, with some predicting a Nintendo Direct announcement. However, the game never materialized on the original Switch, and the ESRB rating was subsequently removed.

Nintendo Switch 2: Backwards Compatibility and Official Announcements

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa's May 7, 2024, tweet promised further details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year," ending March 2025. Subsequent announcements confirmed backwards compatibility with the original Switch, encompassing both "Nintendo Switch software" and "Nintendo Switch Online." However, the use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.

While no official confirmation exists from Warner Bros.
