Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Mobile RPG Beta Test Announced
Netmarble's upcoming mobile RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, has unveiled a new gameplay trailer and details about its closed beta test. Set during the show's fourth season, this action-adventure game promises engaging combat and a rich narrative experience.
The closed beta, running January 16-22, 2025, in the US, Canada, and select European regions, will offer fans early access to the game's class-based progression system, featuring fully manual controls. Players can choose to play as a knight or assassin. The game boasts a unique storyline centered around a new character, heir to House Tyrell in the North, and features iconic characters like Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and Drogon.
Initially announced in November 2024 and further highlighted at The Game Awards, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad aims for "raw, aggressive, and destructive" combat. Netmarble, known for titles like Marvel Future Fight and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, leverages the rich lore and characters from George R.R. Martin's creation and the HBO adaptation to deliver a compelling mobile gaming experience.
The recently released trailer showcases the game's features, including the class-based progression and manual controls. The game’s characters draw inspiration from Wildlings, Dothraki, and the Faceless Men. The beta test, accessible via the game's official website, precedes the full launch later in 2025.
While fans eagerly await the next A Song of Ice and Fire novel, The Winds of Winter, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad offers a substantial interim experience for fans of the franchise. With other projects like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon season 3 also in the works, there's plenty to keep Game of Thrones enthusiasts occupied.
