FF16 PC Demands High-End RTX 4090 for Optimal Performance

FF16's PC Port Performance IssuesFinal Fantasy XVI's recent PC launch, alongside a PS5 update, has unfortunately been plagued by performance hiccups and glitches. This article delves into the specific performance problems affecting both platforms.

Final Fantasy XVI PC Performance: A High-End Struggle

FF16's PC Performance BottlenecksWhile developer Naoki Yoshida recently requested fans refrain from creating offensive PC mods, the core performance issues are far more pressing. Even high-end hardware struggles to deliver the expected experience. Many anticipated smooth 4K 60fps gameplay, but benchmarks reveal this isn't consistently achievable, even with the powerful NVIDIA RTX 4090.

DSOGaming's John Papadopoulos reports maintaining a stable 60fps at native 4K with maximum settings proves challenging. This is surprising given the RTX 4090's leading position in the consumer GPU market.

However, there's a potential solution. Enabling DLSS 3 Frame Generation with DLAA reportedly boosts frame rates above 80fps consistently. DLSS 3 leverages AI to generate extra frames for smoother gameplay, while DLAA is an anti-aliasing technique improving image quality without significant performance loss.

FF16's PC Port Optimization ChallengesInitially released on PlayStation 5 over a year ago, Final Fantasy XVI finally arrived on PC on September 17th as a Complete Edition, including the base game and both story expansions, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide.
