Microsoft Edge Game Assist: A Revolutionary In-Game Browser
Microsoft's Edge Game Assist, currently in preview, is poised to revolutionize the PC gaming experience. This innovative in-game browser aims to eliminate the cumbersome process of alt-tabbing out of games to access online resources. Learn more about its game-aware features and how it streamlines gameplay.
The Game-Aware Tab: A Game Changer
Microsoft acknowledges the common practice of gamers using browsers during gameplay for assistance, progress tracking, music, or communication. The tedious alt-tabbing process is addressed by Edge Game Assist, a browser overlay accessible via the Game Bar. This seamless integration avoids interrupting gameplay.
Edge Game Assist utilizes your existing Microsoft Edge profile, meaning your bookmarks, history, and saved data are readily available without requiring a separate login.
A key feature is the "game-aware tab page," which proactively suggests relevant tips and guides for the game being played. This eliminates the need for manual searches, addressing the common gamer behavior of seeking in-game assistance. This tab can even be pinned for real-time access to guides.
Currently, this automatic suggestion feature is limited to a select group of popular titles during the beta phase:
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Diablo IV
- Fortnite
- Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga
- League of Legends
- Minecraft
- Overwatch 2
- Roblox
- Valorant
More games are promised to be added in future updates.
To access Edge Game Assist, download the Edge Beta or Preview version, set it as your default browser, navigate to Settings, search for "Game Assist," and install the widget.
