A Decade in the Making
The creation of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a lengthy process, facing numerous delays spanning nearly a decade. Development began in 2015, following Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting resource allocation and delaying "Joplin," the game's initial codename. Further complicating matters, the original design clashed with the company's live-service strategy, leading to a complete development halt.
The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." Years later, it was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the journey is nearing its end. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Get ready, Thedas awaits!
