Yukiko's Castle marks the beginning of your dungeon-crawling journey in Persona 4 Golden. Though it spans just seven floors, it's packed with experiences that introduce you to the game's mechanics and combat system in a manageable way.
The initial floors are relatively easy, but as you progress, you'll encounter the formidable Magical Magus, the dungeon's toughest random enemy. Here's how to exploit its weaknesses and defeat it efficiently.
Magical Magus Weakness & Skills In Persona 4 Golden
Null | Strong | Weak |
---|---|---|
Fire | Wind | Light |
The Magical Magus wields a range of powerful skills, primarily focusing on fire-based attacks. To counter this, equip your party with fire-resistance accessories, which can be found in golden chests scattered throughout Yukiko's Castle. These accessories are not only crucial for surviving encounters with the Magical Magus but also invaluable for the boss battle at the end of the dungeon.
Be vigilant when the Magical Magus begins to gather magic power; it's a sign that it's about to unleash Agilao, a potent tier-two fire spell that can deal devastating damage if you're unprepared. Additionally, the enemy's Hysterical Slap can inflict significant physical damage with its double hits, though it pales in comparison to the threat posed by Agilao. In battles against the Magical Magus, it's wise to have Chie and Yosuke focus on guarding to avoid being knocked out, while the protagonist, who can acquire light skills early on, takes the lead in exploiting the enemy's weakness.
Early-Game Persona With A Light Skill In Persona 4 Golden
The ideal early-game Persona for wielding a light skill is Archangel, which naturally comes equipped with Hama. Archangel also learns Media at level 12, a healing skill that will prove invaluable during the boss fight on the final floor. At level 11, Archangel can be fused using:
- Slime (Level 2)
- Forneus (Level 6)
In Persona 4 Golden, light and dark skills function as insta-kill attacks, meaning Hama will exploit an enemy's weakness to instantly eliminate them. This makes it extremely effective against the Magical Magus, turning one of the dungeon's toughest enemies into an easy target. With the right strategy and items to restore SP, farming the Magical Magus can be highly rewarding, even if it means entering the boss fight with less than full resources.
