Cyberpunk 2077’s Planned Lunar DLC: Unreleased Space Expansion Details Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts have long speculated about the game's potential expansions, and recent leaks have unveiled an ambitious DLC that was set to take players to space—specifically, the Moon. Blogger and dataminer SirMZK has meticulously gathered leaks and files from the game’s code, providing insight into CD Projekt RED’s vision for this cosmic venture.

Within the game’s files, there are references to lunar surface maps, structured zones such as an Exterior Movie Set and a Drug Lab, and even a rover model. The Moon was intended to be a massive location, potentially covering a quarter of the size of Night City, with an open-world design. This would have offered players a new dimension of gameplay, extending far beyond the familiar neon-lit streets of Night City.

A highlight of this DLC would have been the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. Although it never made it into the final game, players can catch a glimpse of the Crystal Palace in one of the endings when V looks out of a spaceship window. Additionally, the files reveal a prototype for a zero-gravity bar linked to a cut quest called "201," which was connected to the Arasaka storyline.

Fans remain hopeful that these intriguing concepts might find their way into CD Projekt RED’s upcoming project, Orion, which is set to expand the Cyberpunk universe. However, there has been no official confirmation from the studio about the reuse of these ideas.

While the Moon DLC remains a lost dream for now, the uncovered details paint a fascinating picture of what could have been—a bold step for Cyberpunk 2077 into uncharted territory, blending space exploration with the game’s signature cyberpunk aesthetic.
