Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Explains Absence of Male V in Fortnite

Author : Christopher Apr 06,2025

For a long time, fans of Cyberpunk 2077 eagerly awaited the integration of items from the hit game into Fortnite, a platform renowned for its diverse crossovers. When the collaboration finally materialized, excitement was palpable among the fanbase. The item set was indeed impressive, yet some fans expressed disappointment over the absence of the male version of the protagonist, V. Speculation ran rampant, with fans drawing comparisons to various marketing strategies employed by CD Projekt Red in recent years. However, the true reason behind this decision was far more straightforward.

Patrick Mills, the individual responsible for the lore of Cyberpunk 2077, was the one who made the final call. Amidst the swirling rumors, Mills took the opportunity to clarify his decision. The bundle format was designed to include only two characters, one of which had to be Johnny Silverhand. This left no room for both versions of V. Given that Johnny is male, opting for the female version of V was a logical choice, and Mills admitted to having a slight personal preference for this version.

Thus, the decision was not the result of a conspiracy but rather a pragmatic choice. We extend our congratulations to Keanu Reeves on his second Fortnite skin; previously, Epic Games had introduced John Wick to the game.
