Halo Infinite's Competitive Scene Gets a Boost with New S&D Extraction Mode
While other games may steal the spotlight, Halo Infinite continues to receive regular content updates. The latest addition is a highly anticipated competitive mode: S&D Extraction. This new mode promises a strategic and refreshing gameplay experience.
Inspired by Counter-Strike's classic bomb defusal format, S&D Extraction adds a unique twist. Two teams of four players face off – one team attacks, aiming to plant a device at a specific location; the other defends. Teams swap roles after each round, with the first team to win six rounds claiming victory.
A key feature is the dynamic economic system. Players earn in-game currency by completing objectives, which they then use to purchase equipment at the start of each round. Pricing is performance-based, fluctuating throughout the match, and all gear is lost at the end of each round.
Item costs reflect their in-game effectiveness and power. Expect cheaper items early on, escalating prices mid-match, and potentially even more expensive options late in the game for players who strategically save their earnings. A respawn mechanic will also allow players to re-enter the match after elimination, for a price.
S&D Extraction is scheduled for release in Halo Infinite during 2025, offering a thrilling and competitive experience for long-time fans and newcomers alike.
