Automate Farming: Locate Machine Arms in NieR: Automata

This guide details how to obtain Machine Arms in NieR: Automata, a rare crafting material crucial for weapon and pod upgrades. Early acquisition can significantly boost your character's strength.

Quick Links

Obtaining Machine Arms early can be challenging. While they drop from defeated small machines, the drop rate increases with enemy level, making early acquisition difficult.

Farming Machine Arms

The most efficient early-game farming location is the pit where you first fight Adam (post-Chapter 4). Access this area via the Desert: Housing Complex fast travel point and proceed deeper into the ruins. This pit continuously spawns small machines, providing a consistent, albeit low-drop-rate, source of Machine Arms. This location is also beneficial for Titanium Alloy farming. Using a Drop Rate Plug-In Chip can slightly improve your yield.

Buying Machine Arms (Spoiler Warning: This section contains spoilers for the final playthrough.)

During the final playthrough as A2, after eliminating the robots from Pascal's village and choosing to erase his memories, Pascal becomes a merchant. He offers Machine Arms for purchase, among other items. His inventory includes:

  • Machine Heads - 15,000 G
  • Machine Arm - 1,125 G
  • Machine Leg - 1,125 G
  • Machine Torso - 1,125 G
  • Machine Head - 1,125 G (Note: Duplicate entry)
  • Children's Cores - 30,000 G

This provides a reliable, albeit late-game, method to acquire Machine Arms.
