Amazon's eagerly anticipated God of War TV series is already set for not just one, but two full seasons, as confirmed by the show's new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore. This exciting news comes on the heels of a significant shake-up in the production team. Moore, stepping in after the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, shared insights into his new project during a chat with his former Battlestar Galactica co-star, Katee Sackhoff.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, a major title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of, and they've asked me to come in," Moore revealed. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a seasoned gamer, Moore expressed his fondness for classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern gaming controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
For the God of War series, Moore has taken on multiple roles, including writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His impressive resume includes work on iconic shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, as well as his acclaimed stint as the showrunner for the 2000s revival of Battlestar Galactica.
While the production team saw some changes, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. Although details about the series are still sparse, it's confirmed that the show will be based on the critically acclaimed 2018 God of War game.
Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations, such as the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, following their successful launches, suggest a promising future for God of War on the streaming platform. Fans of the franchise have much to look forward to as the series progresses.
