League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests, responding directly to player feedback. Read on to learn more about this update and other changes coming to LoL.

League of Legends Reverses Course on Unpopular Changes

The Return of Hextech Chests

Following significant player feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is reinstating Hextech Chests. A developer update, posted on Riot Games' website February 27, 2025, and accompanied by a YouTube video, detailed upcoming changes.

Riot Games acknowledged recent unpopular updates, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust." The return of Hextech Chests was a key response to this feedback. Riot explained, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

Hextech Chests will return in patch 25.05, allowing players to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight chests will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two earnable via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Further Fan-Driven Adjustments

The release of the Exalted Mordekaiser skin, and the entire Exalted skin line, has been delayed. Riot Games explained the decision: "We want to take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This means the planned release of an Exalted skin each act will not occur this year.

Responding to further player feedback, LoL will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence. Riot stated, "We’ve seen clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."

Addressing concerns about champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.

Finally, in response to previous announcements about reduced Clash frequency, LoL has reinstated a monthly Clash schedule. Riot confirmed, "March’s Clash event will be ARURF, then we’ll run a regular SR Clash in April."

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return

Popular in-game shops, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are making a comeback this year, responding to player demand. Your Shop is scheduled for 25.06, and the Emporium for 25.07.

Riot Games concluded, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments." This statement highlights Riot's commitment to ongoing communication and iterative development based on player feedback.
